Advice for the prospective marriage partners

  • Improve your connection with Allah

  • Take advice from both parents and seek their blessing

  • Keep friends who are righteous and God fearing

  • Do not make the physical attributes the most important aspect of

  • choosing a spouse

  • Do not over emphasize the education level or profession as the most

  • important criteria for a spouse

Communication between parties before marriage

  • Inform both parents that you are intending to seek a marriage partner

  • Meet in public areas like parks, preferably with a chaperone (sister or

  • friend) accompanying the female.

  • Length of time of the first meeting: keep it short, between 30 to 60

  • minutes

  • Time of meeting: avoid meetings late in the evening

  • ï‚·After the first meeting, pray Salatul Istikhara

  • Total length of courtship should be less than 3 months
